About Brian Gast

The last thing I thought I needed was an executive coach. I was sitting on a multi-million fortune at age 35 and running a publicly-traded telecom company that was the darling of Wall Street. I thought I was where I was because of intelligence and hard work and self-reliance. Does this sound like you?

The wrinkle for me was I had a lot of blind spots as well as a lot of talent I wasn’t using. And although I “had it all”, at least everything I thought I wanted, I wasn’t all that happy. I was confident and ambitious yet would take unnecessary financial and relationship risks in both my personal and professional lives. I wish I could say I went out and hired a coach and vanquished my blind spots and greed and retired a millionaire. No, I learned the hard way.

It wasn’t until I lost two multimillion dollar net worths and got fired that I got serious about my personal and leadership development. I realized that although I had many years of successful leadership experience, had an MBA and logged hundreds of hours in in-house corporate training and executive development programs I had little self-awareness or understanding of what motivated me.

As I began my personal development work I realized that traditional leadership development fell short of transforming leaders into people with strong self-concepts and healthy relationships with themselves, their families, God and a wide variety of personalities you run into in business.

On the heels of loosing $50 million almost overnight and with a negative net worth I followed my passion for helping leaders grow and navigate challenging transitions. I started Quadrant in early 2001 with a vision to transform the workplace into a sustainable, compassionate environment where people could grow and thrive.

I brought skills and insights gained from the twenty years I had spent in the banking, venture capital and telecommunications industries including my twelve years as the CEO of three companies – one public and two venture capital-backed to my coaching practice.

I combined this experience with extensive training as a certified coach, facilitator and counselor and years of wide-ranging personal growth work that remains an on-going practice.

I live in Littleton, Colorado with my wife of over 18 years and our two children. My passions outside of my work include spending time with my family, competing in triathlons, playing golf, backpacking, snowboarding, and playing the piano.
